- “The ultimate purpose of every teaching, every activity in the church is that parents and their children are happy at home, sealed in an eternal marriage and linked to their generations.” (The Father and the Family, General Conference 1994, Boyd K. Packer)
- “World leaders and court judges agree that the family must endure if we are to survive. At the same time, they use the words freedom and choice as tools to pry apart the safeguards of the past and loosen up the laws on marriage, abortion, and gender. In so doing, they promote the very things which threaten the family.” (The Father and the Family, General Conference 1994, Boyd K. Packer)
- " In a world of turmoil and uncertainty, it is more important than ever to make our families the center of our lives and the top of our priorities. Families lie at the center of our Heavenly Father’s plan." (The Importance of the Family, General Conference 2003, L. Tom Perry)
- “Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. ‘Children are an heritage of the Lord’ (Psalms 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, to teach them to love and serve one another, to observe the commandments of God and to be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations." (The Importance of the Family, General Conference 2003, L. Tom Perry)
- "Children and youth are shown, through prophetic words and through living examples, the importance of loving and honoring their parents. Parents are taught ways of building and maintaining close family ties, both in good times and in difficult times." (The Importance of the Family, General Conference 2003, L. Tom Perry)
- "All families need strengthening, from the ideal to the most troubled. That strengthening can come from you. In fact, in some families you may be the only source of spiritual strength. The Lord is depending on you to bring the blessings of the gospel to your family." (Strengthen Home and Family, General Conference 2007, Julie B. Beck)
- "Elder Robert D. Hales said: “If the example we have received from our parents was not good, it is our responsibility to break the cycle. … Each person can learn a better way and in so doing bless the lives of family members now and teach correct traditions for the generations that follow.” (Strengthen Home and Family, General Conference 2007, Julie B. Beck)
- "Remember, “the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children” (“The Family: A Proclamation to the World,”Liahona, Oct. 2004, 49; Ensign, Nov. 1995, 102). Eternal families are made up of individuals. “Do your part to build a happy home” (For the Strength of Youth, 10). Establish patterns of righteousness in your life. And be an example of the believers. The Lord is depending on you to assist in the exaltation of your eternal family." (Strengthen Home and Family, General Conference 2007, Julie B. Beck)
- "Crisis or transition of any kind reminds us of what matters most. In the routine of life, we often take our families—our parents and children and siblings—for granted. But in times of danger and need and change, there is no question that what we care about most is our families! It will be even more so when we leave this life and enter into the spirit world. Surely the first people we will seek to find there will be father, mother, spouse, children, and siblings." (What Matters Most Is What Lasts Longest, General Conference 2005, M. Russell Ballard)
- "In the Church, our belief in the overriding importance of families is rooted in restored doctrine. We know of the sanctity of families in both directions of our eternal existence. We know that before this life we lived with our Heavenly Father as part of His family, and we know that family relationships can endure beyond death." (What Matters Most Is What Lasts Longest, General Conference 2005, M. Russell Ballard)
Summary:
Family is a very big part of my life. I have ten siblings who are all amazing people. Some of them aren't members of the church which makes it hard on the rest of the family. From these quotes I learned that you have to love all your family members unconditionally and that you can't forget them in their times of need. My family has had a hard life and I just goes to show that no ones life is perfect and we all most work to be like Jesus. These quotes helped me to know what my family should be doing and what we need to work on. With my future family I know what I should do as a parent and what my kids should be doing.
